Lord Windgrace

Lord Windgrace was introduced in the 2018 Commander set as the face of the 'Nature's Vengeance' preconstructed deck. The card depicts a legendary panther warrior from the lore of Urborg, a character long anticipated by Magic: The Gathering players for his pivotal role in the Phyrexian Invasion storyline of the late 1990s. This oversized version was produced specifically as a commemorative display piece included with the deck, designed to offer a larger, more tactile way to showcase the planeswalker card during gameplay.

The artwork was commissioned from illustrator Bram Sels, who sought to capture the regal yet battle-worn essence of Windgrace. Sels emphasized the character's status as a protector of Urborg, utilizing deep, earthy tones and imposing armor to convey his legendary weight. Upon release, the design was well-received by fans of the game's deep lore, as it finally provided a mechanical representation for a fan-favorite figure who had existed in text-based narratives for nearly two decades.
