Where it came from
Magus of the Future was originally released in the 2007 Future Sight expansion, serving as a creative homage to the iconic Future Sight enchantment from the same set. The Magus series was designed to transform powerful, legacy-defining enchantments into creature form, offering players a thematic and mechanical twist on classic Magic: The Gathering cards while maintaining the original spirit of manipulating the top of the library.
The Time Spiral Remastered version, released in 2021, features updated card frames and archival art intended to evoke nostalgia for the era of temporal anomalies that defined the original block. Illustrated by Kev Walker, the piece captures the ethereal, reality-warping essence of the card’s ability to draw power from the future, receiving praise from players for its sleek, modern aesthetic that remains faithful to the complex visual language of the Time Spiral setting.
