Provenance

Where it came from

The Manifest token was released in 2024 as part of the Murders at Karlov Manor Commander set, specifically designed to support the set's central mechanic of turning cards face-down. In the context of Magic: The Gathering, Manifest is a mechanic that allows a player to put the top card of their library onto the battlefield as a 2/2 colorless creature. This token serves as a physical representation of that hidden state, ensuring clear board state management during gameplay.

The design of this specific token iteration emphasizes the investigative, noir-inspired aesthetic of the Ravnica plane as depicted in the Murders at Karlov Manor expansion. Illustrators for the set focused on capturing a sense of intrigue and mystery, using muted, atmospheric visuals to reflect the hidden nature of the manifested card. The token was received as a functional necessity for players utilizing manifest-heavy strategies, providing a clean and thematic visual aid.
