Where it came from
Mechanized Production first appeared as a rare card in the Aether Revolt set in 2017, designed for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It represents the pinnacle of resource replication, allowing a player to create a copy of a controlled artifact at the start of each turn with the added potential for an alternate win condition if enough identical items are amassed. The card was conceptualized by the Wizards of the Coast design team to lean into the artifact-heavy themes of the Kaladesh block, which focused on inventive engineering and industrial progress.
The Jumpstart 2022 printing, numbered 320, marks the card's inclusion in a randomized, theme-based play experience designed for quick, accessible drafting. The illustration, created by artist Igor Kieryluk, depicts a sleek, automated factory assembly line, visually capturing the card's mechanic of endless production. Within the broader context of the game, Mechanized Production is valued by players for its combo potential in commander decks and its thematic coherence with artifact-focused strategies.
