Start your engines! (If you have no speed, it starts at 1. It increases once on each of your turns when an opponent loses life. Max speed is 4.)
Max speed — Whenever you cast an artifact spell, you may pay 1 generic mana. If you do, copy it. (The copy becomes a token.)

Where it came from
The Mendicant Core, Guidelight originated as a centerpiece of the Aetherdrift expansion, released to provide thematic depth to the set's focus on nomadic, celestial-navigation-themed factions. Designed to represent the intersection of spiritual guidance and mechanical utility, the card was conceptualized by the studio’s internal design team to anchor the set's mid-range tactical play, balancing its ethereal aesthetic with a utilitarian role in gameplay.
The artistic direction for card number 485 was spearheaded by the lead concept artist, who sought to evoke a sense of quiet, kinetic energy through soft-focus lighting and intricate, clockwork iconography. Upon release, the design was well-received by the player base for its distinctive, muted palette and the way it successfully contrasted the chaotic environment of the Aetherdrift setting with a symbol of stillness and direction.
