What it does
Mendicant Core's power is equal to the number of artifacts you control.
Start your engines! (If you have no speed, it starts at 1. It increases once on each of your turns when an opponent loses life. Max speed is 4.)
Max speed — Whenever you cast an artifact spell, you may pay 1 generic mana. If you do, copy it. (The copy becomes a token.)

Where it came from
The Mendicant Core, Guidelight (213p) originates from the Aetherdrift Promos set, a series of special edition cards released to support the growth and engagement of the Aetherdrift community. These cards were strategically distributed through organized play events and promotional initiatives, intended to serve as highly sought-after variants that feature unique artistic treatments distinct from the standard card pool.
The visual direction for the Aetherdrift Promos emphasizes a ethereal, high-fantasy aesthetic designed to highlight the lore behind the Mendicant Core. Illustrators were commissioned to move away from utilitarian design, favoring intricate detailing and atmospheric lighting to elevate the card's presence. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players and collectors alike, who valued both the mechanical utility of the card and the prestige associated with its limited promotional availability.
