Where it came from
Mind's Eye was first introduced in the 2003 Magic: The Gathering expansion Mirrodin, designed as an artifact that rewards players for drawing cards by offering them an opportunity to pay mana for additional cards. It quickly became a staple in Commander formats due to its ability to generate significant card advantage over long games, particularly when paired with effects that force opponents to draw cards.
The version from The Brothers' War Retro Artifacts, collector number 33, serves as a thematic homage to the franchise's history, featuring the specialized 'retro frame' aesthetic that mimics the original card designs of the 1990s. This iteration was curated to celebrate the lore of the Antiquities War, maintaining the functional integrity of the original card while updating the visual presentation to align with the set's nostalgic exploration of Magic's early mechanical roots.
