Minotaur Sureshot

Minotaur Sureshot was released in 2017 as part of the Amonkhet expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Set on a plane inspired by ancient Egyptian mythology and governed by the formidable dragon-god Nicol Bolas, the set focused on themes of trials, death, and physical perfection. The creature type Minotaur was reimagined for this setting to fit the aesthetic of a harsh, desert-bound culture influenced by the shifting sands and monuments of the plane.

The card was illustrated by Victor Adame Minguez, who sought to capture the aggressive, disciplined nature of the Minotaur warriors found in the city of Naktamun. His design emphasizes the creature's athletic physique and specialized weaponry, conveying a sense of focused power consistent with the set's mechanics, which often rewarded creatures for exerting themselves in combat. Upon release, the card served as a common-rarity utility piece within the Limited environment, valued by players for its ability to increase its own power during tactical engagements.
