Mischievous Pup // Mischievous Pup

The Mischievous Pup card is part of the Art Series released alongside the Magic: The Gathering set The Lost Caverns of Ixalan in late 2023. These cards are distinct from standard gameplay components, serving primarily as collectible mementos that highlight the high-fidelity illustrations commissioned for the expansion. The set itself focuses on the subterranean exploration of the plane of Ixalan, characterized by its prehistoric themes and vibrant, fantastical landscapes.

The illustration was created by artist Livia Prima, who has contributed extensively to the Magic: The Gathering aesthetic. Her design for this piece captures the playful, kinetic energy of the creature, utilizing a color palette consistent with the lush, overgrown environments of the Ixalan cavern systems. Within the collector community, these Art Series cards are recognized for showcasing the artists' work without the interference of frame elements or text boxes, providing a focused view of the set's visual storytelling.
