Wave Goodbye // Wave Goodbye

Wave Goodbye is a card from the Art Series released in late 2023 as part of The Lost Caverns of Ixalan expansion for Magic: The Gathering. These cards were designed as non-playable promotional items, specifically intended to highlight the high-fidelity artwork commissioned for the set. Each piece in this series serves as a dedicated canvas for the illustration, intentionally omitting the game rules and frame elements found on standard trading cards to allow the visual storytelling to take center stage.

The artwork for this piece was created by artist Alayna Danner, whose evocative style is a staple of contemporary fantasy illustration. In this piece, Danner utilizes vibrant colors and atmospheric depth to capture a moment of fluid movement and quiet departure, aligning with the exploration-focused themes of the Ixalan setting. Upon its release, the card was well-received by collectors who appreciate the marriage of technical proficiency and artistic narrative, becoming a sought-after aesthetic companion to the main game set.
