What it does
If a creature you control would deal damage, it deals double that damage instead.
Both complement and antithesis to his older brother Urza, Mishra also mastered the intricacies of artifice. It was Mishra's strength that first gave rise to the massive Phyrexian war engines on Dominaria, and it was his weakness that pushed him, Urza, and Dominaria itself to the point of annihilation.

Where it came from
Released in 1997, the Vanguard Series was a promotional expansion for the Magic: The Gathering card game designed to introduce a new gameplay variant where players used oversized character cards to modify their starting hand size and life total. This specific card represents Mishra, the primary antagonist of the Brothers' War storyline, and was intended to provide players with a unique strategic avatar that reflected his affinity for artifact manipulation and tactical attrition.
The art for this card was created by illustrator Mark Poole, who captured the character's industrial, war-torn aesthetic by focusing on the mechanical decay and grandiosity associated with Mishra's legacy. The series was distributed primarily through hobby stores and tournament support programs, aiming to personalize the game experience for established fans. It was generally well-received by the player base for its experimental mechanics, though it remained a niche product within the broader competitive scene.
