Mox Lotus

Mox Lotus was released in 2004 as part of the Unhinged set for Magic: The Gathering. As a silver-bordered card, it was designed specifically for casual, non-tournament play, intended to push the boundaries of game mechanics through humor and absurdity. The card draws inspiration from the legendary 'Power Nine' artifacts from the early history of the game, specifically the Mox cycle, which traditionally provide single mana of one color. In contrast, Mox Lotus parodies this power by allowing the player to tap it for any amount of mana of any color, a design choice meant to be comically overpowered.

The card features artwork by Dan Dos Santos, who leaned into the ornate, celestial aesthetic characteristic of powerful artifacts in the Magic universe.
