Where it came from
Muse Seeker was released in 2021 as part of the Strixhaven: School of Mages set, specifically within the supplemental Commander decks associated with the release. It reflects the set's central theme of magical academia at Strixhaven University, where the five colleges compete for mastery of arcane disciplines. The card was designed to support the set's mechanics involving the 'Magecraft' keyword, rewarding players for casting or copying instant and sorcery spells.
The artwork for Muse Seeker was created by artist Livia Prima, who rendered the card in the distinctive high-fantasy aesthetic common to the Strixhaven series. The design choice emphasizes the academic, research-oriented nature of the setting, depicting a student scavenging for knowledge within the expansive libraries of the campus. It was received as a functional utility card within the Prismari and Quandrix color identities, serving as a reliable way for players to bridge the gap between their graveyard and their hand during gameplay.
