Nael, Avizoa Aeronaut // Nael, Avizoa Aeronaut

Nael, Avizoa Aeronaut was released in 2022 as part of the Dominaria United Art Series, a subset of Magic: The Gathering cards dedicated to showcasing the full-frame illustrations featured in the main expansion. This card features the work of artist Lie Setiawan, who utilized a lush, vibrant palette to capture the character's mastery over the aerial landscapes of Dominaria. The series was designed specifically for collectors who appreciate the game's world-building and aesthetic depth, stripping away the traditional card frame to prioritize the visual storytelling of the plane's return to its roots.

The character of Nael represents the Kavu-riding scouts of the Yavimaya forest, reflecting the intricate lore of Dominaria's diverse ecosystems. By decoupling the illustration from the functional gameplay text, Wizards of the Coast intended these cards to function more as collectible art prints than standard game pieces. Upon release, the set was well-received by the community for providing a dedicated format to highlight the technical skill of the artists who define the visual identity of the multiverse.
