Where it came from
Nature's Chosen was released in 1996 as part of the Alliances expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set was designed to follow the narrative arc of the Ice Age block, introducing cards that emphasized tactical complexity and distinct mechanical themes to broaden the strategic depth of the game during its early years.
The card features artwork by Susan Van Camp, whose illustrative style was a hallmark of mid-1990s Magic. Her design for this enchantment reflects the ethereal, wilderness-focused aesthetic prevalent in the set's green cards, aiming to visually translate the concept of bestowing unnatural, mystical speed upon a creature.
