Where it came from
Naya Panorama was released in 2008 as part of the Shards of Alara expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set introduced a world fractured into five distinct 'shards,' with Naya representing a lush, sun-drenched jungle plane defined by its immense scale and diverse megafauna. Mechanically, the card was designed to support the set's focus on three-color themes, providing players with a flexible land that could search for any of the three basic land types—Plains, Mountain, or Forest—associated with the Naya shard.
The artwork for this specific printing was created by artist Trevor Claxton. In keeping with the visual identity of the Naya shard, the illustration emphasizes the vast, vertical, and verdant landscapes of the region, featuring stone structures reclaimed by dense vegetation. Upon release, the panorama cycle was well-received by players for its utility in multi-colored decks, offering a reliable, albeit slower, method of color fixing that complemented the gameplay pacing of the Alara block.
