Necrotic Wound

Necrotic Wound originated in the Magic: The Gathering Foundations Jumpstart set, a product line designed to bridge the gap between newcomers and experienced players by providing a curated, ready-to-play experience. Released to anchor the modern era of the game, this card serves as an efficient removal spell that scales in power based on the number of creature cards in the player's graveyard, leaning into the classic black-mana mechanics of attrition and resource management.

The card’s design focuses on utility and the 'delve-adjacent' graveyard synergy that defines much of the game's recent mechanical identity. By requiring players to manage their own bin to exile opposing threats, it rewards careful deck building and strategic graveyard filling. Like many cards in the Foundations release, it features clean, accessible visual cues designed to make gameplay interactions intuitive for those learning the complex rules of Magic.
