What it does
All Slivers have "3 generic mana, Sacrifice this permanent: Destroy target permanent."
Though Volrath is long dead, the slivers have become everything he wanted them to be: mindless instruments of destruction and despair.

Where it came from
Necrotic Sliver was originally introduced in the 2007 Time Spiral block, designed as part of the Slivers creature type, which are known for sharing communal abilities across the battlefield. This iteration, reprinted in the 2021 Forgotten Realms Commander set, allows players to sacrifice Slivers to destroy any permanent, offering a versatile removal tool that leans into the self-sacrificial nature of the tribe.
The art for this card, featured in the Commander set, maintains the iconic silhouette of the Sliver hive mind, characterized by elongated, biomechanical forms that evoke a sense of creeping, parasitic evolution. It was received by the player base as a staple utility piece for tribal Commander decks, valued for its efficiency in neutralising problematic threats while synergizing with the recursive mechanics often found in black and white color identities.
