Where it came from
Nekusar, the Mindrazer was originally introduced in the 2013 Commander product line, specifically for the Mind Seize deck. As a Grixis-colored legendary creature, Nekusar was designed to embody a chaotic, forced-draw playstyle, punishing opponents for drawing extra cards. The card quickly became a staple in the Commander format, favored by players who enjoy high-interaction, group-slug strategies that accelerate the pace of the game.
The Commander Masters version, numbered 587, features updated art that maintains the character's signature skeletal, lich-like aesthetic. While the core mechanical identity remains faithful to the original 2013 printing, this iteration serves as a refined showcase within a premium set intended to celebrate the most iconic and influential commanders throughout the history of the format.
