Nissa Revane

Nissa Revane first debuted in the 2009 Magic: The Gathering set Zendikar as a Planeswalker card, representing the elf shaman from the world of Zendikar. Designed to emphasize the tribal synergy between elf creatures and land manipulation, the card served as a key piece of the set's mechanical identity, which focused heavily on the exploration and environmental hazards of the titular world. The original artwork was provided by Jaime Jones, who sought to capture Nissa's connection to the natural forces of her home plane, portraying her with a regal yet wilderness-oriented aesthetic that defined her early characterization.

The inclusion of this card in The List—a rotating curation of past cards reprinted for modern booster packs—reflects the enduring popularity of iconic Planeswalkers. These versions retain their original set numbering and art, serving as a bridge for players to acquire historical staples that defined competitive and casual play in previous eras. The card’s design remains a classic example of early Planeswalker mechanics, and its repeated inclusion in specialized sets demonstrates its status as a foundational element of the game's long-running lore.
