Provenance

Where it came from

No-Regrets Egret was released as part of the Mystery Booster 2 set in 2024, a specialized collection curated by Wizards of the Coast for convention play. This card is a notable example of a 'playtest' design, featuring the characteristic placeholder aesthetic intended to mimic the raw, experimental phase of Magic: The Gathering card development.

The design of the card leans into the whimsical and self-referential humor often found in silver-bordered or non-tournament-legal sets. By utilizing the 'playtest' frame, the illustration and mechanics prioritize personality and mechanical exploration over the rigid standardization of modern set releases, reflecting the company's commitment to celebrating the creative history and behind-the-scenes processes of the game.
