Northern Paladin

Northern Paladin was released in 1993 as part of Limited Edition Alpha, the inaugural printing of the Magic: The Gathering trading card game designed by Richard Garfield and published by Wizards of the Coast. Conceived as a high-fantasy tactical game, Alpha was designed to be played with randomized decks, drawing inspiration from bridge and various role-playing games. The aesthetic of the set was defined by a diverse group of freelance illustrators tasked with establishing the game's visual identity, resulting in a eclectic mix of art styles that would soon become iconic within the burgeoning hobby gaming industry.

The artwork for Northern Paladin was created by Dan Frazier, one of the original illustrators whose contributions helped shape the visual language of the game's earliest sets.
