The Northern Paladin card belongs to the infamous 1994 Summer Magic set, colloquially known as Edgar. This set was produced by Wizards of the Coast as a limited reprint of the Revised Edition base set, intended to fix an error where the original print run was shipped with a distinct, washed-out color profile. While the intent was to distribute these cards through traditional hobby channels, a logistical error resulted in the entire run being shipped to a single distributor in Paraguay, leading to its extreme scarcity today.
The artwork for the card was created by Jesper Myrfors, the original art director for Magic: The Gathering.
