Where it came from
The Oath of Teferi was originally introduced in the 2018 set Dominaria, designed as part of a cycle of enchantments representing the planeswalkers who formed the Gatewatch. This specific version hails from the 2023 Commander Masters set, which served as a curated reprint collection focused on highlighting powerful and iconic cards from the history of the Magic: The Gathering Commander format.
The card's design features the artwork of Magali Villeneuve, a renowned illustrator in the Magic community known for her evocative and painterly style. The illustration captures the essence of the character Teferi, emphasizing his command over time and his scholarly connection to the lore of Dominaria. Its inclusion in Commander Masters was well-received by players, as it provides a valuable utility effect for blink-style deck archetypes that rely on triggering planeswalker and permanent abilities multiple times per turn.
