Painter's Servant // Painter's Servant

Painter's Servant was originally released in the 2008 Magic: The Gathering set Shadowmoor, designed to add a unique layer of complexity to color-based deck building. The Lorwyn Eclipsed Art Series version features the card's signature illustration by Steve Argyle, who depicted a construct-like figure tasked with altering the colors of other permanents. The design was intended to create powerful interactions with cards that care about specific colors, allowing players to manipulate the battlefield in ways previously unavailable in the game's mechanics.

The Lorwyn Eclipsed Art Series is a specialized printing designed to showcase the vivid, dark fantasy aesthetic of the game's setting. Argyle's work on this piece is highly regarded for its focus on the 'servant' construct, capturing a sense of mystical artifice that defines the set's visual identity. Upon its debut, the card became a staple in eternal formats due to its ability to enable potent combos, cementing its status as a sought-after functional piece for dedicated players and collectors alike.
