Where it came from
Personal Incarnation was released as part of the Summer Magic set, colloquially known as Edgar, in 1994. This set was a limited print run of the core Magic: The Gathering base set, intended to correct printing errors and replace the Revised Edition cards. It is visually distinguished by its notably brighter, more saturated color palette, which gives the artwork a distinct appearance compared to its counterparts in other sets.
The artwork for this card was created by artist Dan Frazier, a veteran illustrator whose work defined much of the early aesthetic of Magic: The Gathering. Frazier utilized a traditional fantasy style to depict the essence of personal embodiment, a recurring theme in early-game lore. While the card functions mechanically like any other iteration of this specific spell, the Edgar print remains a curiosity for collectors due to the set's unique manufacturing history and the vibrant saturation of its design.
