Pilgrim's Eye was first introduced in the Worldwake expansion and later reprinted in Commander Legends, numbered 332 in the latter set. It serves as a common-rarity utility artifact creature designed to bridge mana gaps, specifically by finding a basic land card when it enters the battlefield. This mechanic, known as land-cycling or searching, provides players with a consistent way to maintain land drops during the early to mid-game stages of a match.

The card features artwork by the illustrator Volkan Baga, who depicted the construct as a solitary, avian-like mechanical scout. The design intent focuses on its role as a functional tool for Commander decks, where color-fixing and land consistency are vital.
