Plargg, Dean of Chaos // Plargg, Dean of Chaos

Plargg, Dean of Chaos is a card featured in the Strixhaven: School of Mages Art Series, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2021. The set was designed to highlight the high-fantasy aesthetic of the Strixhaven University setting, specifically focusing on the college of Lorehold, which emphasizes history, archaeology, and the study of the past. These art cards were distributed as special bonus inserts in set booster packs to showcase the detailed illustrations of the cards from the main set in a larger, borderless format.

The illustration for this piece was created by artist Igor Kieryluk, whose work is known for its intricate sense of motion and dramatic lighting. In this design, Kieryluk portrays Plargg as an imposing and dynamic figure, capturing the chaotic, scholarly energy of the Lorehold faculty. The card was received well by collectors for its high-quality foil-stamped signature variation and its ability to provide a clearer, more immersive view of the creature's lore-rich visual design compared to the standard playable version of the card.
