Pyroblast

Pyroblast was originally introduced in the 1993 Magic: The Gathering set Ice Age as a powerful red instant designed to counter or destroy blue spells and permanents. The oversized version, numbered 55 in the League Prizes series, was produced by Wizards of the Coast as a promotional incentive for players participating in official in-store DCI leagues during the mid-to-late 1990s. These oversized cards were intended to serve as rewards for dedicated hobbyists rather than for standard tournament play.

The artwork for the original card was illustrated by Christopher Rush, one of the most iconic artists in the early history of the game. His depiction of a fiery, destructive burst captures the chaotic and aggressive essence of the red mana color pie. While the oversized format was primarily a decorative piece of memorabilia, it remains a sought-after collectible because it showcases the classic fantasy aesthetic that defined the game's formative years.
