Quina, Qu Gourmet // Quina, Qu Gourmet

Quina Quen, the blue-skinned, gender-neutral Qu from Final Fantasy IX, is a character defined by an insatiable appetite and a unique philosophy centered on culinary exploration. This card, released as part of the Final Fantasy Art Series, celebrates Quina's distinct character design, which was originally conceived by Toshiyuki Itahana. Known for a surreal, almost cartoonish aesthetic that contrasts with the more grounded designs of other party members in the series, Quina was intended to provide levity and a distinct gameplay mechanic through the 'Blue Magic' system.

The artwork featured on this card leans into the whimsical tone of Final Fantasy IX, emphasizing the character's signature chef's attire and oversized fork. The Art Series cards were produced to honor the illustrative history of the franchise, showcasing the original conceptual sketches and vibrant color palettes that defined the PlayStation-era titles. While the character was polarizing among fans upon the game's release in 2000, they have since been reevaluated as a vital element of the game's quirky, high-fantasy identity.
