Where it came from
Sakashima of a Thousand Faces is a legendary creature card originally appearing in the Commander Legends set, later featured as a special printing in the Secret Lair series. The character, a master of disguise and a renowned shapeshifter from the Kamigawa plane, was designed to emphasize the theme of cloning and identity manipulation. The mechanic allows players to maintain multiple permanent copies of legendary creatures, making it a highly sought-after card for Commander format players looking to optimize their board presence through versatile, repeating effects.
The Secret Lair edition features stylized, expressive illustration that departs from traditional fantasy art, leaning into a more contemporary, bold aesthetic common to the artist-collaborative drops. This release was intended to provide enthusiasts with a visually distinct version of a high-utility card, catering to the growing interest in premium, alt-art foils. It was well-received upon release for both its aesthetic departure from the original printing and its high gameplay relevance in casual and competitive multiplayer formats.
