Sea Gate Banneret // Sea Gate Banneret

Sea Gate Banneret is a featured illustration from the Zendikar Rising Art Series, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2020. This subset of the Zendikar Rising expansion was designed to highlight the high-fidelity artwork of Magic: The Gathering cards, stripping away the game text to showcase the aesthetics of the plane of Zendikar. The series was well-received by collectors who sought to appreciate the intricate environmental storytelling and creature designs independent of the card's functional gameplay mechanics.

The artwork for this specific piece was crafted to emphasize the heroic and adventurous tone of the Sea Gate faction, a recurring location of tactical importance in the lore of Zendikar. Artists involved in the Zendikar Rising set were tasked with depicting a world defined by its volatile landscapes and resilient inhabitants. The aesthetic choices for this series focused on vibrant color palettes and dynamic lighting, intended to immerse the viewer in the precarious yet beautiful nature of the Zendikar environment.
