Skyclave Basilica // Skyclave Basilica

The Skyclave Basilica art card was released as part of the Zendikar Rising Art Series in 2020. This subset of the Zendikar Rising expansion was designed to highlight the intricate world-building of the set, featuring high-resolution prints of the primary card illustrations without the distraction of game text or mana costs. The series was intended to serve as a collectible showcase for the talented illustrators tasked with defining the architectural and ecological visual language of the Zendikar plane.

The artwork for this specific piece was created by artist Titus Lunter, who focused on capturing the grand, floating ruins characteristic of the Skyclave sites. Lunter's design sought to emphasize the interplay between the ancient, crumbling stone structures and the vibrant, overgrown vegetation reclaiming the environment. Upon release, these art cards were well-received by the Magic: The Gathering community, serving as a popular inclusion for players and collectors interested in the aesthetic evolution of the game’s settings.
