Serra Paragon

Serra Paragon was introduced in the 2022 Magic: The Gathering set, Dominaria United. Designed as a mythic rare white creature, the card serves as a thematic tribute to the history of Serra, a central figure in the game's long-running lore. Mechanically, it reflects the enduring nature of angelic magic by allowing players to play permanents from their graveyard, emphasizing themes of resurrection and persistence that have defined white-aligned cards throughout the game's history.

The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game whose work is frequently noted for its ethereal, painterly aesthetic. Voss sought to capture the grace and protective aura associated with the Serra legacy, utilizing a soft color palette and flowing lines to distinguish the figure from the more militaristic angelic designs seen in other sets. Upon its release, the card was widely received as a powerful utility engine in various competitive formats, praised for its ability to provide long-term card advantage while honoring the nostalgic roots of the Dominaria plane.
