Serum Visions

Serum Visions was originally released in the 2004 set Fifth Dawn, but this specific iteration appeared in the 2016 Magic: The Gathering supplemental set Conspiracy: Take the Crown. The set was designed to be played in a draft-heavy, multiplayer format, focusing on political intrigue and social play. Including this card in the set provided players with a reliable, efficient card selection tool that fit the high-stakes, maneuvering nature of the Conspiracy gameplay experience.

The art for this version was commissioned from Igor Kieryluk, whose illustration style emphasizes the visceral, arcane nature of the card's effect. The design seeks to visually capture the act of scrying—looking into the future—by depicting a hooded figure peering through a shimmering, magical substance. The piece was well-received by the player community for maintaining the classic feel of the original spell while offering a fresh, modern aesthetic that aligned with the high-fantasy tone of the Conspiracy expansion.
