Where it came from
Shanna, Sisay's Legacy was originally introduced in the Dominaria set in 2018, representing the daughter of Captain Sisay and a pivotal figure in the lore of the Weatherlight crew. The Multiverse Legends version, collector number 59, serves as a special showcase printing that highlights the character's role in the overarching history of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. This card draws on decades of fantasy world-building, focusing on the tactical and narrative weight of the legendary heroes who navigated the planar conflicts of the Phyrexian incursions.
The design of this specific card features the stylized, frame-inclusive art treatment characteristic of the Multiverse Legends series. The illustration captures Shanna in a dynamic, heroic stance, intended to evoke the classic aesthetic of high-fantasy card games while adhering to the modern, clean visual language of the set. Upon its release, players appreciated the card for its functional utility in Commander formats, as well as the aesthetic appeal of the expanded art treatment which makes it a standout piece for collectors of lore-heavy character cards.
