Where it came from
Shanna, Sisay's Legacy was originally introduced in the Dominaria set in 2018, representing the daughter of Captain Sisay, a pivotal figure from Magic: The Gathering's Weatherlight Saga. The character was designed to reflect her lineage as a protector of the legacy of the legendary airship's crew. This specific version was released as part of the Multiverse Legends series within the March of the Machine expansion, serving as a serialized-style showcase for iconic characters throughout the game's expansive history.
The art for this iteration was created by Magali Villeneuve, a renowned illustrator in the fantasy community known for her evocative character portraits and dynamic use of light. Villeneuve aimed to capture Shanna's grace and tactical vigilance, utilizing a refined aesthetic typical of the Multiverse Legends card frame. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its ability to tie together nostalgic narrative threads with a clean, modern design language that emphasizes the deep lore of the Dominarian plane.
