Shattering Pulse

Shattering Pulse was included in the 1998 World Championship Decks, a series of preconstructed products released by Wizards of the Coast to commemorate the deck lists used by top-performing players at the Magic: The Gathering World Championship. This specific card was featured in the sideboard of the deck piloted by Brian Selden, who won the tournament that year. These decks were produced to allow casual players to experience the high-level strategy and specific card combinations that defined the professional competitive meta at the time.

The card features art by Adam Rex, whose illustration depicts the destructive potential implied by the spell's name. As part of the 1998 championship release, the card is distinguished by a gold-bordered back and a facsimile signature of the professional player on the front. This design choice was intended to preserve the collectibility of the original, tournament-legal cards while providing an affordable and accessible way for the community to engage with historical deck lists.
