Where it came from
Shielded by Faith was originally introduced in the Commander 2015 set, designed by Wizards of the Coast to expand the aura enchantment category within Magic: The Gathering. Its mechanics allow for a recursive defensive loop, reflecting the card's theme of divine protection and the resilience of a faithful warrior. The design intent was to provide players with a versatile tool that could repeatedly attach itself to new creatures, offering a scaling benefit that remains relevant throughout the late stages of a game.
The version from Signature Spellbook: Gideon, released in 2019, was part of a specialized premium set curated to highlight the iconic white-mana spells associated with the Planeswalker Gideon Jura. Featuring stylized, heroic artwork consistent with the visual narrative of the character, this release served to consolidate lore-appropriate cards into a cohesive collection for enthusiasts. The card was well-received by fans for its thematic alignment with Gideon's character identity and its utility in decks focused on indestructible or equipment-based strategies.
