Card face

What it does

If you control a creature, damage that would reduce your life total to less than 1 reduces it to 1 instead.

Even after all that befell Amonkhet, Gideon never believed that his trust in Oketra was misplaced.

Provenance

Where it came from

Worship was originally released in the Urza's Saga expansion in 1998, serving as a rare enchantment that provides a unique protective effect for the player. The card was designed to stabilize gameplay by preventing a player from losing the game while they control a creature, a thematic nod to the defensive and resilient nature of white-aligned magic within the game's color pie.

The Signature Spellbook: Gideon version, released in 2019, features distinct art by Aleksi Briclot that aligns with the aesthetic of the Planeswalker Gideon Jura. This specific printing was part of a curated product line designed to highlight the iconic spells associated with the character, utilizing a minimalist and cohesive frame treatment that emphasizes the thematic connection between the card's defensive mechanics and Gideon's own protective lore.
