Simic Growth Chamber

Simic Growth Chamber first appeared in the Dissension expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2006, designed to represent the flavor of the Simic Combine, a faction dedicated to biological experimentation and the fusion of nature and science. As a 'bounceland,' it provides two mana of different colors while requiring the player to return a land to their hand, a mechanic that rewards long-term resource management and deck synergy.

The 2022 Double Masters version, illustrated by Aleksi Briclot, reimagines the card with contemporary artistic techniques that emphasize the surreal, mutated aesthetic of the Simic guild. Briclot, a veteran fantasy artist, focused on the fluid, bio-organic architecture characteristic of the guild's Ravnica headquarters, a direction that was well-received by players for both its visual fidelity to the lore and the high-quality foiling process characteristic of the premium Double Masters set.
