Provenance

Where it came from

Sivvi's Valor was released in February 2000 as part of the Nemesis expansion for Magic: The Gathering. As a white enchantment card, it reflects the set's thematic focus on the rebellion of the Kor people on the plane of Rath. The card mechanics emphasize defensive play, allowing players to protect their creatures by redirecting damage, which aligns with the strategic flavor of the Kor rebels introduced in this block.

The card features artwork by Christopher Rush, one of the most iconic illustrators in the game's early history. His approach for this piece was consistent with the high-fantasy aesthetic of the late 1990s, utilizing a bold color palette to emphasize the protective, heroic nature of the artifact. Upon its release, the card was received as a niche utility piece, valued more for its thematic contribution to white-aligned creature decks than for competitive tournament dominance.
