Slimefoot, the Stowaway // Slimefoot, the Stowaway

Slimefoot, the Stowaway was originally introduced in the 2018 set Dominaria, designed as part of a cycle of legendary creatures that embody the fungal life cycle of the Yavimaya forest. The character quickly became a fan favorite due to its unique combination of sacrifice-based synergies and its whimsical visual identity, which depicts a saproling-generating sentient mushroom. This particular iteration comes from the Commander Masters Art Series, a premium collection of foil-etched art cards released in 2023 to celebrate the most popular archetypes and personalities within the Commander format.

The art for this specific printing preserves the aesthetic established by artist Bram Sels, who leaned into the dark, earthy, and organic textures of the Dominarian landscape. The illustration captures Slimefoot's stoic yet mischievous demeanor, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between the fungi and the trees. Within the Art Series, these cards serve as high-fidelity showcases for the game's creature design, intended more for display and appreciation of the illustrators' craft than for use in standard gameplay decks.
