Sower of Discord

Sower of Discord was released in 2018 as part of the Commander 2018 set, a series of preconstructed decks designed specifically for the multiplayer-focused Commander format. This card was included in the Adaptive Enchantment deck, which showcased a green-white-blue theme centered on enchantment synergies and land-based acceleration. It was created to provide a high-impact, splashy effect that creates a dynamic tension in a four-player game by forcing two opponents to share the damage dealt to one another.

The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who utilized a dark, mystical aesthetic to represent the character's role as a manipulator of strife. The design intent was to capture the essence of a chaos-inducing entity that thrives on the friction between adversaries. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the Commander community for its ability to alter the political landscape of a game, effectively acting as a deterrent against combat while creating precarious situations for opponents.
