Spirit Link

Spirit Link was originally introduced in the Legends expansion in 1994, designed by Wizards of the Coast to explore the concept of lifelink-style effects before the keyword existed. The card functions as an enchantment that attaches to a creature, causing any damage dealt by that creature to grant its controller a corresponding amount of life. It occupies a space in the game’s history as a versatile utility card, often used to neutralize an opponent's threat by forcing them to gain life while effectively negating their offensive output.

The Ninth Edition printing, released in 2005, features updated card frame technology and distinct artwork by Terese Nielsen. As part of the Core Set, this version was intended to maintain the card's availability in standard play environments during that era. The design approach for Ninth Edition aimed to provide a stable, balanced foundation for the game, with Nielsen’s ethereal illustration being well-received for its evocative depiction of the spiritual connection between two entities.
