Where it came from
Splendid Reclamation was released in the 2016 Magic: The Gathering expansion Eldritch Moon. As a rare green sorcery, it was designed to mechanically represent the return of land from the graveyard to the battlefield, fitting the set's themes of cosmic horror and the literal resurrection of the plane of Innistrad. The promo version, marked with the collector number 171s, features alternate art by Bastien L. Deharme.
Bastien L. Deharme’s illustration for this promo edition emphasizes the set's unsettling tone through a surrealist lens, depicting the reclamation process with fluid, uncanny imagery that departs from the standard card illustration. Upon release, the card saw significant play in various eternal formats, particularly in Commander, where its ability to ramp land counts rapidly established it as a staple for green-aligned decks that rely on graveyard synergy.
