Where it came from
Splendid Reclamation was released in 2016 as part of the Eldritch Moon expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed as a rare green sorcery centered on the set's graveyard-recursion mechanics, allowing players to return any number of land cards from their graveyard to the battlefield. This effect provided a powerful late-game strategy for decks focused on self-milling or land-sacrifice interactions.
The artwork was created by illustrator Titus Lunter, who captured the haunting, cosmic horror aesthetic of the Innistrad plane. Lunter utilized a color palette of deep greens and eerie purples to depict the land physically rising to meet the corrupted influence of Emrakul. The card was well-received by players for its unique utility in Commander and eternal formats, solidifying its reputation as a staple for land-focused deck archetypes.
