Where it came from
The Staff of Eden, Vault's Key, is a card released as part of the Magic: The Gathering 'Universes Beyond' collaboration with Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise. This set was designed to integrate the lore and aesthetics of the long-running video game series into the TCG format, focusing on iconic artifacts and historical figures that define the franchise's narrative.
The card artwork captures the ethereal and technological nature of the Pieces of Eden, central objects within the game's plot that grant immense power. The design process for this set prioritized faithfulness to the visual language of the games, aiming to satisfy longtime fans by translating the 'Precursor' artifacts into functional game mechanics that reflect their legendary status in the Assassin's Creed universe.
