Where it came from
The Staff of Eden, Vault's Key, was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond expansion dedicated to the Assassin's Creed franchise. This card represents one of the Pieces of Eden, powerful artifacts from the game's lore that serve as the focal point for the centuries-long conflict between the Assassins and the Templars. The inclusion of this item in the set allows players to integrate the artifacts of the Isu civilization into the mechanics of the tabletop game.
The design of the card emphasizes the artifact's role as a tool of control and manipulation, reflecting its depiction in the video game series where it is frequently sought after to influence the course of history. The illustration captures the ancient, technologically advanced aesthetic associated with the Isu, staying true to the visual language established by Ubisoft. Upon its release, the card was noted by collectors for its thematic accuracy and its ability to represent the high-stakes narrative tension inherent in the Assassin's Creed universe.
