Provenance

Where it came from

The Steelburr Champion token was released as part of the Bloomburrow Commander deck series in 2024. This set represented a departure from traditional high-fantasy themes by focusing on a charming, anthropomorphic woodland setting inspired by cottagecore aesthetics and fables. The token was designed to support the specific mechanics of the 'Animated Army' deck, acting as a physical representation of the mechanical constructs often found within the set's unique world-building.

The visual identity of the token reflects the set's blend of rustic charm and artificial artifice, designed by the Wizards of the Coast art team to harmonize with the illustrations of Bloomburrow's diverse creature types. The art direction emphasized a tactile, storybook quality intended to immerse players in the world of Valley. Upon release, these tokens were noted for their cohesive aesthetic and their functional utility in tracking battlefield state during the complex sequences of Commander gameplay.
